Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, has declared it a Special Economic Zone --- India’s first greenfield SEZ. Units located in the Park enjoy the status of an offshore unit, a host of financial and non-financial benefits and a simplified procedural regime.

| Implemented by West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. (WBIDC), the premier state government agency for promoting industrial development. The park is constructed by Larson & Toubro (L&T), India’s world class Infrastructure Construction Company. ICICI- West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation Ltd.(ICICI-Winfra) a joint venture company of ICICI Bank and WBIDC was the Project Management Consultant, with overall responsibility for getting the Project Implemented. The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council, along with various organizations concerned with the business, has been closely associated from the vary inception of the projects. |

| The Park : The architecturally unique, diamond-shaped Common Facility Building (CFB), the cornerstone of the Gem and Jewellery Park, is located on the south-west side of the plot. North of the CFB is the first Standard Design factory (SDF-1).The SDF and CBF have separate entrances with security checks at gate. Infrastructure facilities are located along the northern boundary of the Park along with Canteen, Health Centre and Crèche buildings. |
