NEW PROJECTS
WBIDC has implemented several projects recently, which have brought itself much acclaim. The following gives brief details of several projects that have been implemented successfully in West Bengal under the aegis of WBIDC.
1. Manikanchan Special Economic Zone
The first phase of the project costing Rs. 25.00 crore was completed in November 2003. The SEZ started exporting from July 2004. The exports during FY 2007-2008 were Rs. 1,800 crore which is steadily increasing this year

2. Shilpangan – Light Engineering Park (earlier Toy Park)
In an effort to promote the growth of the toy industry in the state, the Government of West Bengal conceived and set up Toy Park Phase I in Sector III of Salt Lake in Kolkata. But the changing character of the park, with demand for space arising mostly from non-toy manufacturing units, led towards' widening the scope of the Park and renaming of the Park to Shilpangan, which means the industrial hub. This Park, built on the cluster concept is aimed at providing the entrepreneurs with all the necessary infrastructure and support facilities within a single complex at an affordable cost.

3. Garment Park
Paridhan, the Garment Park promoted by WBIDC is a composite facility for garment/apparel manufacturing units catering to both domestic & export markets.

4. Sudha Ras Food Park
Certain food processing units had approached the corporation for allotment of land to set up their units. Frito-Lay is one of those units. In the first phase, 49.98 acres of land have already been acquired at Sankrail, Howrah District. There is a Common Facility Building housing 16 modules in this Park. The entire land has been allotted to 17 industrial units. Fourteen units have commenced project work out of which eight units have commenced commercial work. In the first phase, investment already made amounted to Rs. 110 crores. Further investment expected is Rs. 250 crores. Infrastructural investment made by WBIDC for this Park is Rs. 1826.19 lakhs

5. Kandua Food Park
The Kandua Food Park has been developed by WBIDC to cater to the needs of manufacturers and producers of food and agro products

6. Poly Park
60 acres of land has already been acquired for development of Poly Park at Sankrail, Howrah district. Land has been allotted to forty three units, three units have started commercial production and ten units are carrying out their construction work in this Park..

Infrastructural development cost borne by WBIDC till date is Rs. 20 crores

7. Plasto Steel Park
Plasto Steel Park is situated at Borjora in Bankura District, which is 12 kms from Durgapur Railway Station. This park is being developed to set up steel (Ferro Alloys and induction furnace) units and plastic manufacturing units. In the first phase 190.07 acres of land was acquired during the year 2003-04 and the said land was distributed amongst 19 industrial units. In the second phase total land purchased directly from the owners was 250 acre (including about 50 acres up to 31st March, 2005). Number of units who had taken possession of land is 42 units and the number of units who have already commenced project work is 14 units. Total investment already made is Rs. 132 crores. Estimated further investment is Rs. 300 crores. Damodar Valley Corporation has completed installation of a power substation in our growth centre at an investment o Rs. 44 crores.
