NEW PROJECTS
WBIDC has implemented several projects recently, which had brought itself much acclaim. The following gives brief details of several projects that have been implemented successfully in West Bengal under the aegis of WBIDC.
1. Manikanchan Special Economic Zone
The first phase of the project costing Rs. 25.00 crore was completed in November 2003. The SEZ started exporting from July 2004. The exports during FY 2006-2007 were Rs. 1,108.00 crore which is steadily increasing this year.

2. Shilpangan – Light Engineering Park (earlier Toy Park)
The first phase comprising 6 storied Standard Design Factory Building with 24 space modules and the second phase comprising of 28 modules and a restaurant cum party hall at a cost of Rs 19 crore have been completed. Business activities have already started.

3. Garment Park

4. Food Park (First Phase)
Certain food processing units had approached the corporation for allotment of land to set up their units. Frito-Lay is one of those units. In the first phase 98 acres of land have already been acquired at Sankrail, Howrah District. The entire land has been allotted to 16 industrial units. Four units have commenced project work and two units have commenced commercial work. In the first phase investment already made amounted to Rs. 110 crores. Further investment expected is Rs. 250 crores.
5. Food Park (Second Phase) and Poly Park
The second phase of Food Park is for both Food Park and Poly Park. Land area identified from the owners of land till 31st March 2005 was 92 acres. Out of total land, 32 acres has been earmarked for Food Park and the balance land of 60 acres has been earmarked for Poly Park. All the space available in the Poly Park and II phase of Food Park have already been booked. Expected investment in second phase of Food Park is Rs. 100 crores and that for Poly Park is Rs. 200 crores.
6. Plasto Steel Park
Plasto Steel Park is situated at Borjora in Bankura District, which is 12 kms from Durgapur Railway Station. This park is being developed to set up steel (Ferro Alloys and induction furnace) units and plastic manufacturing units. In the first phase 190.07 acres of land was acquired during the year 2003-04 and the said land was distributed amongst 19 industrial units. In the second phase total land purchased directly from the owners was 250 acre (including about 50 acres up to 31st March, 2005). Number of units who had taken possession of land is 42 units and the number of units who have already commenced project work is 14 units. Total investment already made is Rs. 132 crores. Estimated further investment is Rs. 300 crores. Damodar Valley Corporation has completed installation of a power substation in our growth centre at an investment o Rs. 44 crores.
