The Garment Park

In an effort to promote the growth of garment, hosiery, and apparel industry in the state, the Government of West Bengal has conceived and is setting up Garment Park at 19, Canal South Road, in Beliaghata in Kolkata. The Park have five 5-storied Standard Design Factory (SDF) Buildings meant for setting up manufacturing units and a 3-storied Common Facilities Building (CFB) for setting up support units, meant for efficient functioning of the manufacturing units. Spread over 8.78 acres of land in Beliaghata, the Park is a result of impeccable planning at every stage, from conception to execution.

The Park is being built in two phases. Phase I of the Park consist of three 5-storied Standard Design Factory (SDF) Buildings housing stitching and finishing units for garment, hosiery & leather and other ancillary support items. Phase II of the Park will consist of another two 5 . Storied SDF Buildings.

The modules in the Park are meant for garment/hosiery/apparel/leather garment manufacturing units, which meet all the pollution (industry citing) norms of West Bengal Pollution Control Board and have infrastructure requirements within the specified design norms.

The Park :

Three Standard Design Factory (SDF) Buildings will comprise of:

Common Facilities Building (CFB) provides spaces for setting up support units like: Bank Branch, Workers' Canteen, Training Institute/ Center Meeting Room/Display Room, Restaurant. Office Spaces meant for support services like transporters, freight forwarders, insurance, courier companies, Business Center, input providers i.e. retail outlet for accessories, design centers and machinery suppliers. The CFB also accommodates a first aid cum medical center for meeting up any eventualities.

Park Amenities :

	Fully integrated Industrial Park with ready to use units having power & water connections with separate meters
	Abundant Water Supply from on-site deep tube well, Underground water reservoir & Water Treatment Plant.
	Truck stand including Trucker's amenity center (pay and use toilets etc)
	A working women's hostel with 96 seats along with 30 seats day care center
	Internal roads of 3.5m, 5m, 7m,and 10m width, impeccably planned pedestrian walkways within the Park, adequate car parking spaces (reserved & general)
	Elevators-- Two passenger lifts of 10 capacity each in SDF & CFB. One goods lift of 2000kg capacity in SDF.

	Comprehensive Fire fighting System.
	Generator set for adequate backup power.
	The canal along Canal South Road will be cleaned up and beautified.
	A Culvert over the canal will be built to connect the Park Complex with Choulpatti Road, a 24 - hour lorry corridor.

Status : More than 80% of the modules are booked. The project is likely to be completed by 30th septeptember, 2007. A proposal for Phase-II with two 5 Storied SDF Buildings and a multilevel car parking space is already under consideration.
