In an effort to promote the growth of the toy industry in the state, the Government of West Bengal conceived and set up Toy Park Phase I in Sector III of Salt Lake in Kolkata. But the changing character of the park, with demand for space arising mostly from non-toy manufacturing units, led towards' widening the scope of the Park and renaming of the Park to Shilpangan, which means the industrial hub. This Park, built on the cluster concept is aimed at providing the entrepreneurs with all the necessary infrastructure and support facilities within a single complex at an affordable cost.
The Park already has a six-storied Standard Design Factory (SDF) building with super built up area of 7,320 sq.m., meant for setting up manufacturing units and a three-storied Common Facilities Building (CFB) with super built up area of 1,880 sq.m. for setting up support units, meant for efficient functioning of manufacturing units. It also have a children’s park along with an Amphitheatre and a two-storied building having a hall and a restaurant and other facilities like service kitchen, store and toilet. |
