| SILIGURI- JALP AIGU RI DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY (SJDA) |

| Established in 1980, SILIGURI- JALP AIGU RI DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY (SJDA) is a nodal agency for the development of areas including the towns of Siliguri, Jalpaiguri and urban Area of Naxalbari within its jurisdiction spread over 1162 sq. km. To meet the growing demand for commercial place SJDA has completed several Commercial Complexes and has taken up projects like Composite Complex, Jalpaiguri, Residential Complex, Santinagar Housing Complex etc. to provide land for residential, office and recreational purposes. For developing a modern Industrial Estate SJDA has taken Area Development and Industrial Estate Project in Rupsing and Bairatisal mouzas. Development of a Satellite Township in the resumed land of Chandmari Tea Estate in the joint sector with WBIDC and Lukmi Township Pvt. Ltd. is in process. Extension of the Planning area of the Authority is also under active consideration. Several private players have recently evinced interest in setting up agro and food based industries, SEZs etc and the SJDA is expected to playa leading role to facilitate the process of rapid industrialization in its area. |
