Delegation to Japan and Republic of Korea for promoting PCPIR
The Government of West Bengal visited Japan and the Republic of Korea as part of a Government of India delegation led by Shri. Bijoy Chatterjee, Secretary, Chemical and Petrochemicals, Government of India during 21st March to 28th March 2009. The objective of the delegation was to promote the PCPIRs in the three states whose proposal for setting up PCPIRs has been approved by the Govt. of India and to facilitate investments in the Indian Chemical and Petrochemical Industries. The delegation also consisted of representatives of FICCI, Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation, Andhra Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation.

The team from West Bengal was led by Dr. Sabyasachi Sen, Principal Secretary, Department of Commerce & Industries, Govt. of West Bengal and included Ms. Nandini Chakravorty, ED, WBIDC, Mr. S.K Bhowmick, MD HPL, Mr. Sanjay Malhotra, Promoter, Cals Refineries, Mr. Elson Mah, Head of Nayachar Technical Team, Jurong Consultants, Singapore and Mr. D. P. Patra, Joint MD, MCC PTA. They interacted with senior government and industry representatives in Tokyo and Seoul and made detailed presentations on the PCPIR project highlighting investment opportunities for Japanese and Korean companies.

The delegation met with the Director General, Manufacturing Industries Bureau, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan, Deputy Minister for Industry, Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Korea and senior representatives from Mitsui Chemicals, Japan Chemical Industry Association (JCIA), Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation, Kuraray Petrochemical Co., Japan India Business Co-operation Committee JIBCC, Korea Petrochemical Industry association, Korean Chambers of Commerce and Industries, Korea Importers Association (KOIMA), Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), Maxtin Business Advisory India Pvt. Ltd among others..
